Maxillofacial Surgery

These are specialized surgeries of the oral and facial region, a specialty of dentistry. This surgery can be done to improve the condition of the patient or to enhance the facial image by rectifying various defects and asymmetry. Many procedures fall under this category.

General Surgeries

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Although tooth extraction is a routine oral surgery done in dental clinics, wisdom tooth extraction needs special surgical procedures so as not to affect other teeth.

Orthognathic Surgery

It is also known as corrective jaw surgery as it rectifies deformities of the jaw and face related to growth and orthodontic issues. It is also done to treat overbites and underbites that affect the facial structure and image.

Distraction Osteogenesis

In this technique, a new bone formation is stimulated by separating the bony segments after an osteotomy. Osteotomy is done to shorten or change the alignment of the bone. It even helps in the lengthening of the bone to a greater extent.

Cleft Lip/Palate Surgery

This is a reconstructive facial surgery aimed to rectify congenital defects. It may also be needed after a traumatic dental or facial injury or after removal of a tumor.

Bone Grafting

If the jawbone deteriorates or gets damaged due to tooth loss or periodontal disease, bone grafting is recommended. A part of the jawbone is either augmented or replaced to anchor the teeth.

Nerve Repositioning

It is the repositioning of the inferior alveolar nerve providing sensation to the lower lip and chin in order to give space for lower jaw implants. It is needed if there is significant jawbone deterioration where more height is needed for dental implants.
